Malta and Gozo climate

Malta and Gozo have a Subtropical-Mediterranean climate, typical of most of the lands in the Mediterranean Basin.

Malta and Gozo seasons

Effectively there are only two seasons, which makes the islands attractive for tourists, especially during the drier months - mild winters from November through April and warm to hot summers from May to October.

Malta and Gozo sunshine

Malta enjoys around 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, thasnkfully one of the highest sunshine levels in all Europe!

From average 5 hours of sunshine per day in December to average 12 hours of sunshine per day in July. This is about twice the hours of sunshine as cities in the northern half of Europe enjoy.

There is no real thermal dormant season for plants, although plant growth can be checked briefly by abnormal cold in winter and summer heat and aridity may cause vegetation to wilt.
