On Tuesday and Sunday there are Maltese markets where you can buy everything local from Maltese lace to fresh fish!

Marsaxlokk is Malta's main fishing port even though apparently just a picturesque fishing 'village' it is steeped in history and tradition.

The main church in Marsaxlokk is the Church of Our Lady of Pompeii.

There are some travel excursion companies that sell a combined half day trip for the Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk Market, both in the south of the island, but we found that you could do the two places much cheaper as part of the Maltasightseeing - hop on - hop off - South, Red Route.
