Malta - San Anton - San Anton Gardens
San Anton is best known for the Botanical Gardens
The transfer time from Malta's International Airport to San Anton is around
25 minutes.
Probably the best known of all the island's gardens. San Anton Gardens were originally laid out by Grandmaster Knight Fra Antoine de Paul (1623 - 1636) as grounds for his summer residence. When we visited the garden we found a quiet well established garden with fountains and water features at evey turn. There were established mature trees, citrus groves, interesting plants and formal gardens next to a government office in the old residence grounds.
A warning though - The paths can be very slippery with slime in places!
