Yellow Fever Inoculations with certificate is required if arriving in Malta from an infected area and over 9 months of age. Tetanus - recommended European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) old E111The EHIC is a credit card sized document that will allow you receive reduced cost, sometimes free, healthcare when you are on a temporary visit (holiday or business trip) to other European Economic Area or Switzerland. The ENIC replaces the old E111. You can get an application form from any Post Office or by phoning the NHS European Health Insurance Card Head Office on 0845 6050707. The ENIC is not a substitute for travel insurance as it will not cover all health costs or repatriation. Each card is unique to the bearer, expiring on the date shown on it and is usually valid for five years. You can renew your ENIC when there is less than six months left to run on it. You can renew your card by visiting www.NHS.uk/healthcareabroad or telephoning 0845 6062030. The ENIC is not valid in the EU country of issue and a ENIC issued in the UK does not act as proof that you are entitled to receive any NHS services.
